While Daddy was keeping me happy, Mommy got a hold of the camera. Lots of pictures of Daddy and me. Then Mommy was holding me on her lap; more pictures. Later in the afternoon, since I am loathe to sleep, we went out to run some errands. Mommy loves using our digital camera and was on a roll – closeups of me in my car seat carrier.

Daddy and Me, plus closeups
Sunday, April 30th, 2006Whee, two visitors came to snug me
Saturday, April 29th, 2006What a day. Worthy of two posts. First, Aunt Kerren arrived. Then Mommy’s friend Sonja from New Jersey joined us. Sonja has two girls of her own (Eva & Sophia), who I will meet someday soon. All day long people snugged me, especially Sonja, who held me on the glider. She helped me to snooze, which is not easy! Of course…Pictures.
Hungry all morning, then Daddy watched me
Saturday, April 29th, 2006I kept going to Mommy for more and more food this morning. After I pigged out, I stayed with Daddy, who snugged me till I went to sleep. Then he set me up in my “crack of the couch, three-pillow system.” Two pillows are under me, and another is on my feet and body. I find it really comfortable. There are more pictures of me on the couch.
Cousin Barbara came to visit; the doodie incident
Friday, April 28th, 2006Cousin Barbara came to see me today. Mommy, Barbara and I went for a stroll in the Park. When I got hungry, Mommy fed me, but during the burping, I spit up much of my snack. Then some hippies wearing crochet clothes came up to us and gave us crochet bracelets while they wished us peace & love.  After the Park, we went to Daddy’s office cause Mommy had some clients to see at 6pm. While she was seeing clients, Daddy and I hung out. I proved to Daddy that if I try really hard, I can blast my doodie right past my diaper onto my clothes. The noise was so loud Daddy jumped a little.
Did-It sent a card and gift; Mommy had lunch with BF ladies
Thursday, April 27th, 2006Daddy’s team at Did-it Search Marketing all chipped in for a gift card to Buy Buy Baby. His team is the greatest. Here is the front of the card and here is the inside where everyone signed. I’m so excited; now I can get more cute outfits. Or toys. Or diapers.
Mommy went to a breastfeeding salon lunch meeting with me. There were lots of ladies and babies there. We had fun, until I got grouchy. I was snackish this afternoon and let Mommy know it when she was rolling me in my carrier. She fed me on a bench outside, which she has been doing a lot lately. I like to eat out sometimes.
Fiona the babysitter took care of me in the office
Wednesday, April 26th, 2006Daddy is in Canada, so Mommy had Fiona the babysitter take care of me and keep me calm while Mommy helped her clients.  Fiona took me for a roll in the Park in my carrier, which was fun. Of course, I got crabby when I came back, as usual for now.
Mommy inteviewed a babysitter
Monday, April 24th, 2006When we were at the doctor’s office a week ago for my green poops, we saw an ad posted by a babysitter.  The lady was nice on the phone, so Mommy invited her to come by to meet us.  I think she is going to take care of me in the evenings when Mommy is seeing clients and Daddy is out of town or busy with work.
One full weekend of being Kvetchina Crankmeistress
Sunday, April 23rd, 2006On Saturday, it rained and was foggy, so when I decided to be crabby all day, Daddy and Mommy had to try to keep me calm inside. On Sunday afternoon, the sky cleared up for a while, so Daddy and I went out shopping to give Mommy a break. We went to Whole Foods, but since I was still a little cranky when we got there and the line was very long, we left. Next we went to the Associated supermarket and Daddy got bananas, turkey, tomatoes and a couple of rolls. Then, because I was still sleeping in the carrier, Daddy went to the Dagostinos as well, and got tomato sauce and grape juice. I started to wake up cause the line to check out was slow, but as soon as we left, I went back to sleep. So we walked until I got hungry and wriggly. Mommy took a picture of the sunset from inside the apartment during her breather while we were out.
My nickname is Miss Gasella Crabtree; Dr. says I’m a bit colicky
Wednesday, April 19th, 2006Most of the day I was kvetchy, and Mommy tried hard to make me calm, but nothing worked for long. Finally, she put me on my tummy on the big bed and I was crying, but then I settled down to have a little nap. Too bad she had to wake me up to bring me to the doctor. I went to the doctor because Mommy and Daddy were a little worried about me having green poops for the past 4 days. They look like creamed spinach or broccoli, but not so yummy. The doctor said the poops look OK to her, since babies can have this shade of poopies. From the time the doctor weighed me to the end of the visit, I made lots of squealy cries, so she agreed with Mommy that I am a bit colicky. Mommy told the doctor that she and Daddy have a nickname for me — Miss Gasella Crabtree — but it is only temporary. When we got home, Nana was waiting in the apartment for us. She brought a nice curvy pillow for me to rest on, and I had some fun on it. I even gave Mommy a big smile, since I am 7 weeks old today and I’m smiling at people now.
Holiday fun at Nana and Grandpa’s house
Sunday, April 16th, 2006Before going out to Long Island for dinner at my grandparents’ house, Daddy took me for a stroll in the park while Mommy took a nap. That calmed my fussies until I suddenly got hungry.  I told Daddy all the way home from the Park just how hungry I was, and he had to jog home so Mommy could feed me.  Then we went on the train to have a holiday celebration with Nana, Grandpa and Aunt Karin.  At the end of the evening, they played some weird game called Eier Kippen where grownups act like kids and smash boiled eggs against each other to see who wins (the one who has the last egg standing – that is, with no cracked shell).  Have to admit, it looked fun, so I can’t wait to play it when I am older. Of course, there were pictures of the whole trip.
I like Mommy’s pillow; airing out with Daddy
Friday, April 14th, 2006Mommy took some pictures of me still napping in the bed after she got up from a nap with me. Later in the evening, we aired out my rashy butt for the third night in a row. That means I had to relax on my tummy with no diaper on and let things hang out in the breeze. Daddy volunteered once again to let me sleep on his belly with a big cloth diaper under me. This has been working great, so my butt is much better now — whew! Of course, Mommy thought it was cute to see us sleeping with a blanket over me and my buns.
Took a nap in my crib
Thursday, April 13th, 2006Mommy put me in my crib for a nap. I don’t usually sleep there, but I was in the mood for a change, so I stayed in there for a while. Mommy took some pictures while she was on the phone talking to Nanny Liz. In the pictures, you can see my crib mobile. Mommy didn’t know how to attach it, so it was in the crib with me.
I weigh 8 pounds 2 ounces
Wednesday, April 12th, 2006No pictures today, but some good news. We went to see another pediatrician today to find out if she is good for me and also flexible on vaccines. She seems like a caring and smart doctor. Plus, she is nearby. So we might switch.
The doctor told us we should try Desitin Original on my rashy ashy, because it has 40% zinc oxide, as well as use lotrimin and airing out. Also, I now weigh 8 lbs 2 oz. After a couple more pounds, I get to use the bigger diapers.
Resting on a red squishy pillow
Tuesday, April 11th, 2006While Daddy got ready to go to work this morning, I was resting the red squishy pillow. After resting for a few minutes…big surprise, I got some gas and started making faces. So Daddy decided he wanted to do a photo shoot. I took that opportunity to do my tai chi wriggling and make lots of faces, including my famous “gas smile.” Luckily I was able to drift off enough to close my eyes, and I did some poses while Mommy took more pictures.
Aunt Kerren came to visit us
Saturday, April 8th, 2006I like it when Aunt Kerren comes to visit. She reminds me of Mommy, but she never feeds me like Mommy does. Of course, we took lots of pictures. We even had a bath for me, and it feels good in a way, except for the parts of me that stick out of the water and get chilly.
Tried my first bottle of pumped milk AND tasted formula
Friday, April 7th, 2006Today was a big day.
Mommy had a long set of three sessions in the evening and had pumped some milk for me so Daddy and Nana could give it to me if I got hungry. About two hours after Mommy left for the office, I got really hungry. I sucked down the milk Mommy made for me and then woudn’t stop crying. So after a few minutes of trying to convince me that bouncing across the apartment was more fun than milk, Daddy finally gave up and tried the emergency formula we had stashed away. I liked the formula, but I like the fresh stuff better. I think the formula made my gas worse that night.
After the formula, I did finally calm down and pass out. Pictures
I slept through the night (almost)
Thursday, April 6th, 2006Since I didn’t let Mommy and Daddy sleep long the night before last, last night I slept snugging with Mommy for 4 hours, and then, after my feeding and changing, I went back to sleep again for 3 hours. In the late morning, Daddy had to make a phone call, so I rested on his arm (pictures).
Mommy took some pictures of me in my car seat carrier. She took me over to Brown Harris Stevens and visitied with some nice people there; they said I look like a doll. Then we went out to lunch with her friend Abigail.
Nana came by at 5:30 p.m. to stay with me while Mommy went to work for two hours. Nana changed me a few times, and then Mommy and Daddy came home together. After my dinner, I got very sleepy. I was so sleepy that I didn’t complain when Daddy changed my diaper. My rash did not get worse, and looks a bit better today. Whew.
Nana walked me though Central Park
Wednesday, April 5th, 2006I was tired and grumpy much of the day; yeasty diaper rashes are no fun.  To help me get my mind off of it, Daddy took me out in my car seat carrier. He had planned to take me to his office, but on the way there, he bumped into Nana. Nana took me for a nice, long walk through Central Park.  She told Daddy that while I was asleep, lots of people said I am cute, and that made Nana smile.  No pictures for today; too busy zooming around in my carrier.
Another doctor visit, Walked through the park, Napped in the crib
Tuesday, April 4th, 2006Mommy wanted to see another pediatrician for a second opinion.  The doctor was very nice and thorough.  She agreed that we are doing things to help the yeast go away. Once I get rid of this thrush, I’m staying healthy. Instead of taking the subway home, Mommmy and Daddy walked me home through Central Park. I loved it because the paths are nice and bumpy, and that helps me to sleep with my binky in my mouth. When I’m rolling down the path, the binky is rolling around in my mouth, round and round.
When we got home, Mommy started folding my clothes and put me down in the crib. I liked it so much that I didn’t complain. Then I dozed off. My first nap in my own bed! Mommy and Daddy were proud.
Double doctor day
Monday, April 3rd, 2006This weekend, Mommy freaked out because my yeast infection isn’t going away and it gave me a really bad case of diaper rash. I think it really upset Mommy when the yeasty diaper rash was so sore I screamed when my diaper was changed and there was even a bit of blood.  Mommy called two doctors – our pediatrician and a doctor that specializes in breastfeeding problems. So we went to the pediatrician, and later in the evening, the breast doctor actually made a housecall. Now we have a plan to use stronger medicine to get both of us well.
First time on the Long Island Rail Road
Sunday, April 2nd, 2006Sundays are great — nice and lazy. Today is different. I get a bath (which makes sense, since I keep spitting up), but then the real excitement begins. We head out with the car seat stroller (I love that stroller!), and we can’t find a cab. We are in a rush, but I don’t know why until later. We get to a train just about to leave the station and the conductor holds the train for Mommy. Then we ride on the train for an hour. I like being on the train; the vibration makes me sleepy. When we get off the train, Grandpa picks us up and we go to Grandpa and Nana’s house.  Daddy used the video recorder to make a movie, but it hasn’t been digitized yet.
I’m no fool on April Fool’s Day; Day of rest
Saturday, April 1st, 2006After resting in my swing, I had some lunch. Then after lunch, we went out to run some errands with me in the stroller. I really love the stroller — it is so relaxing. I stayed asleep most of the trip. When I got back, I was still tired and Mommy was too, so we took a nap together on the couch after my changing and dinner. Daddy thought it was cute, so he took pictures.
