We went to Fire Island today, but we were so busy that the only pictures Mommy took were of me playing with my frog before we left, and on the way there and back.

A trip to Fire Island to measure the living room
Friday, June 30th, 2006Started my day with a bath, then tummy time
Thursday, June 29th, 2006After my bath, I was all bundled. I love my bath, and even getting out, when Mommy wraps the towel around me. Then I asked Mommy to put me on my activity mat for tummy time. Later in the day, I joined the cats on the bed for some more tummy time.
I’m a Baby Einstein in my activity center
Wednesday, June 28th, 2006I’m finally big enough to sit in my Baby Einstein Activity Center. I can’t do much in it yet, but I sure am trying.
Tummy Time is Tiring
Thursday, June 22nd, 2006I did some tummy time today. It made me tired.
Father’s Day is Froggy Day
Sunday, June 18th, 2006I started off my first Father’s Day snugging my Froggy and kissing him. That got me in the mood for visting Nana and Grandpa for a BBQ. I sat with Mommy for a while, looking around and enjoying the party. Then I sat with Aunt Karin, and I realized I like chomping her long thumb nail almost as much as I like sucking my thumb. Nana is really good at making me feel comfortable and loved by hugging and rocking me, and today she walked me around the backyard. All those BBQ smells made me hungry, so Mommy let me have a BBQ of my own. Once I was nice and full, Mommy took some more family photos.
Holding my bottle
Saturday, June 17th, 2006Yesterday, I surprised Mommy by holding my bottle while I was in the car seat. She needed to walk a lot of blocks, and I was hungry, so she put the bottle in my mouth and I helped by holding it with my hands. She thought it was a fluke, but I did it again today.
Sleep news
Friday, June 16th, 2006Mommy and Daddy thought that since I found my thumb last week, now would be a good time to do a little experiment. They want me to have the smoothest change from sleeping in their bed to sleeping in my own bed, and so it seemed like the right time to try me out in the crib in my room. I have napped in there before a couple of times, but since I’m not a napper and never stayed in the crib for long, they did not know what to expect. But I showed them that I am ready to sleep in my crib. The first night was two nights ago, when I turned 3 1/2 months. I did not get upset, and that made Mommy and Daddy so relieved. I slept as well as usual (I got up once or twice to eat during the night), and was smiling in the morning. They miss me being in their bed, but they know that it is good for me to make the switch now.
I still am not a napper, but I have been managing to take a few catnaps during the day. As Mommy was getting us ready to go out today, I fell asleep while sucking my thumb on her bed.
Tuesdays with Nana
Tuesday, June 13th, 2006Nana came to visit today, since it is Tuesday. After she arrived, she rocked me in the glider and I fell asleep for a little while. She told Mommy that I am pretty and getting big. She also said I’m a strong kid.
Bunny and blankie
Monday, June 12th, 2006When we left the apartment this morning, Mommy thought I might like to have my bunny to play with. I also had my yellow thermal blankie, which is really fun to chew on.
BBQ at Aunt Kerren’s — I had thumb
Sunday, June 11th, 2006We went to see Aunt Kerren and Uncle Herbie’s new house, and had a BBQ while we were there. On the way out, we were on the train for 2 hours, so Mommy entertained herself by taking pictures of me.
For some reason, I was happiest being on Aunt Kerren’s bed. Aunt Kerren’s friends came to hang out and meet me. Gina said “look at her perfect shape,” which Mommy and Aunt Kerren thought was a funny and cute thing to say. Mommy and Daddy have been really excited that I found my thumb a couple of days ago, and I showed everyone how much I enjoy it.
Family business
Saturday, June 10th, 2006Saturday is a good day for our family to work on little projects, including family business stuff. Today, Mommy’s new listing needed pictures, so we all went out to do a photo shoot of the apartment. We brought along the pillows from our living room as props, as well as borrowed vases. Plus, Daddy got some flowers to make the room look cute.
As we walked back to the West Side, I got restless in my carrier, but was all right once I was snuggled in the pouch. When we got home, Bertie was warming his buns on Daddy’s laptop, which made Daddy grumble.
Daddy went to see the house by himself
Tuesday, June 6th, 2006Daddy went out to the Fire Island house by himself today to meet with the engineer for the inspection. Nana came to visit me and Mommy. It was fun — we went all over the place shopping. I think I’m going to like shopping. Daddy came back from Fire Island with pictures of the house and the neighbor houses. The pictures also show the yucky parts of the house that need fixing.
When the sun went down, I got cranky-tired
Monday, June 5th, 2006I don’t know what it is about being tired that makes me cranky, but today I got cranky-tired and wouldn’t go to sleep. To help me relax, Mommy handed me over to Daddy so he could dance with me. I zonked out eventually, as Daddy kissed my head…just in time for the sunset.
Daddy found our FI dream home via satellite
Saturday, June 3rd, 2006Finding the right Fire Island house
Friday, June 2nd, 2006Mommy and Daddy wanted us to go out to Fire Island again to see one more house in Dunewood. The pictures on the broker’s website looked OK, but we wanted to see for sure, especially since the other house we had seen wasn’t officially for sale. On the ferry, I met another baby boy who is a year older than me. He really seemed to like me and proved that babies like babies.
The house we looked at this time was right on the ocean and has a great view of the beach. Mommy said, “it is a practical, easy and clean house.” Daddy took pictures of the rooms and the view. You can even see the other house we liked (the one that’s not really for sale — it is the one with the flat top) in the background.
